Obviously the most beautiful place at Lake Balaton is Tihany, the peninsula with a hill and a medieval monastery. This place has been chosen by the Hungarian Dragon Association to host the Hungarian Dragon Championship 2011. Sailing is planned in the Eastern part of the Lake, directly in front of the hosting yacht club, THE (map:)

The Hungarian Dragon fleet was chosen as the first in a series to be presented in the Yearbook of the International Dragon Association. Markus Wieser wins European Championship in Balatonkenese, Hungary

Defending European Champion, Markus Wieser won the title again in Balatonkenese, Hungary on Friday. Markus made a perfect start, sailed to the first mark as second and kept calm throughout the whole race. In the end he finished as third, and won the Championship.

Vinci Hoesch wins Hungarian Championship
2010. 06. 06
After a light-wind 5th race Vinci Hoesch won the 2010 Hungarian Championship, preceeding the European Dragon Championship in Balatonkenese Hungary. At about 11.00 a.m. PRO Gert Schmidleitner sent the field off for a fifth race in a light, 6-7 knot West-North-West which slowed down to 4 knots after 1.5 hrs. The right decision was to shorten, so the field finished after the second downwind leg.

64 entries for the Europeans

The extended deadline for the Europeans expired on April 30th. The Organizers have received 64 entries, some of which are still being checked. The field is comprised of boats from 16 nations, which is the biggest Dragon fleet ever seen on the Eastern side of the former Iron Curtain.

More than 50 boats already registered for Europeans

More than 50 boats from 15 countries have already registered for the Dragon European Championship in Balatonkenese. Deadline for the confirmation of the entries is March 31st, but the organizers calculate with a bigger bulk of entrants in the last days. ,,The interest of Dragon sailors is high, the hotel in the marina is fully booked,, the Chairman of the Organizing Commmitte, Vilmos Náray said. The number of boats have been limited to 75, so it is high time for every dragons sending their entry forms.

Notice of Race for the Europeans in Hungary published

After the approval of the IDA the Organizing Authority has issued the final Notice of Race of the Europeans in Hungary. The interest to come to Hungary in June this year seems to be quite high. No matter the final NOR has just been issued there have been around 30 entries pre-registered until mid-January.

Preparations in Hungary for next year,s Europeans well under way

The members of the Hungarian team at the Europeans in St-Tropez invited personally all participants to the next year,s European Championship in Balatonkenese. The date of the event is June 5-11th 2010 which will be preceeded by the Hungarian Championship June 1-5th at the same venue.

Organisation works for Erste Private Banking Dragon European Championships in Balatonkenese in the finishing straight

This year#8217;s Dragon European Championships in St. Tropez, France, concluded with two-sided results from the aspect of the Hungarian delegation. The team of Lóránd Gömbös, Szabolcs Detre, Tamás Kiss with their boat Jampec finished in a very prestigious 32nd place, Ákos Lukáts#8217;s team claimed 70th spot, and the boat Fjord skippered by Vilmos Náray finished in 93rd place in a mostly light-winded regatta in which 103 competitors participated. However, the race did not end for the Hungarian units at the finishing line, important meetings awaited them at the #8220;negotiating#8221; table, personally handing over to each competing units at the gala dinner the invitations for next year#8217;s European Championship, to be held in Balatonkenese, Hungary and sponsored by Erste Private Banking. Sounding out the participants indicated the majority of the competitors were planning to participate in the continent-wide competition in Hungary between 5 and 11 June 2010 in Balatonkenese.

St.-Tropez to pass Balatonkenese the Dragon flag

The Dragon sailing community of the world will be watching St.-Tropez early October as the famous town in the South of France hosts the European Championship of the Dragon Class this year. Simultaneously to the award ceremony of the continent-wide competition, the Hungarian delegation will be handing over invites to the top competitors of the sailing class which is said to be the most elegant in the world, for the next European Championship will be held in June 2010 in Balatonkenese, Hungary.
